There are
many good reasons to purchase a treadmill. Treadmills can improve your health in the
comfort and safety of your own home. They provide you with a safe and efficient workout
platform, which allows you to exercise your cardiovascular system. Treadmills are known
for being primary tools in losing weight. Having excess weight can lead to many severe
degenerative diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and
more.
To obtain optimal height and weight, consistent exercise is needed. It is
recommended by many medical professionals that the best form of exercise is to do
cardio-related exercises such as running at least half an hour a day. Make a commitment
today to have a lean, healthier body. Even if you are already in great shape you can
use our quality treadmills to maintain your physique.
Improve
your health in the comfort and safety of your own home. Exercise whenever you want,
anytime daytime or night. You may even enjoy watching television or listening to your
favourite music while working out.
Women with children who are often unable to leave the house unsupervised will find a
treadmill useful and ideal for keeping fit and healthy.
Treadmills may also have benefits over outdoor running. Since treadmills are
generally used in an indoor environment, users may choose to run on them during bad or
unpleasant weather. This eliminates weather, temperature or terrain issues. Users may
also have the option of a virtual personal trainer, with all of our Lifespan treadmills
having preset programs to ensure a efficient and effective workout. A big advantage of
using one of our treadmills instead of running outdoors is the cushioned surface.
Treadmills can absorb up to 40 percent of the impact compared to running on roads,
which may reduce pain and damage to joints, hips, ankles and back.
Furthermore, studies have found that an outdoor running environment can be
stimulated by raising the incline on the treadmill to simulate wind or terrain
resistance.
Our
treadmills are relatively silent compared to other treadmills you find in the market
due a number of reasons:
1. Treadmills with a higher horsepower are generally quieter than treadmills with
lower horsepower. This is due to the fact that they are not strained when the user is
working out allowing them to run cooler and smoother than motors that are less
powerful. Another benefit for powerful motors is that they can be expected to last
longer without maintenance.
2. All of our treadmills feature Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) motor drive control
system. This allows our treadmill motors to function efficiently by reducing power
loss, creating less noise in a more economical motor.
3. Our treadmills fitted with direct current (DC) motors are quality motors that
provide a smoother application of power to the running belt when you begin to run.
Generally the advantage of a DC motor relative to AC is that it saves on energy bills
and provides a quieter workout environment.
Treadmill
motors are generally rated in terms of horsepower. Horsepower is the amount of energy
required to lift 250kgs vertically at one foot per second, actual amount of work an
average horse can perform on a continuous basis.
When looking at a treadmill’s horsepower consider the continuous horsepower (CHP)
which is the measure of the power of the treadmill during normal, steady operation of
the treadmill. Peak Horsepower (PHP) will not provide a good overall measure of the
motors power as motors will only operate on peak horsepower in short bursts, such as
when a treadmill is initially starting up.
It is worth ensuring that the motor is rated a minimum of 1.5 horsepower, 2.5-3
horsepower is required for running. There are many benefits to buying a treadmill with
a larger motor, as they run easier, cooler and smoother, as well as requiring less
maintenance and are more durable in the long run.
Most home
treadmills are DC motors whereas commercial treadmills may have both AC and DC. You
will find AC motors generally use more power and are louder than DC, but are more
durable on a heavy duty basis and will suit a commercial environment. DC motors also
provide a smoother application of power to the running belt when beginning to run.
So if you are considering buying a treadmill that can save you on your energy bills
and runs quietly, make sure you invest in a treadmill with a DC motor. You will find
that all Lifespan treadmills use high quality direct current (DC) motors and very
efficient drive systems.
Treadmills
without shock absorption can result in damaged joints with wear and tear on knees,
hips, ankles and back. All of our treadmills have suspension points that minimize
stress and impact to your joints. You will find partaking running or walking activities
on our treadmills a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
At
Lifespan we offer our customers a wide range of treadmills with both automatic and
manual incline functions. Electronic treadmills have a large amount of incline levels
that can be easily adjusted by pressing a button on the console. This can be done
during the workout, manual treadmills can only have their incline adjusted by the user
dismounting the treadmill and adjusting the height on the read end on the
treadmill.
In
Australia, there are generally no real standards for treadmills. However we choose to
list our treadmills with an internationally approved standard – CE certificated. We
guarantee customers to have a peace of mind when selecting a high quality safe
treadmill. CE Certificated means that our products have reached the European standard
of quality that could be sold freely in the European market and many other countries.
Our CE certified products have passed the appropriate quality assurance tests. These
tests are performed by a qualified third party, on both the products and the
manufacturing process. Even though it is a time consuming and expensive process, we
believe quality is one of our top priorities for our customers and will be dedicated to
bringing you the best on the market at competitive prices.
Please
check your product manual for specific information on how to maintain your treadmill.
Generally maintenance involves keeping the belt and mat as clean as possible, and
that parts are lubricated for a smooth operation. If you are unsure and require
assistance, we have friendly staff that will always aim to provide helpful and honest
information.
