About Our Bar & Barbell Equipment
We stock both standard and Olympic barbells. Standard 6ft bars do the job for most day-to-day lifting needs and are perfect for both regular lifters and complete beginners. Olympic barbells are the next level up. They're designed for competition weightlifting, built for Olympic specifications with a standard 7ft sizing, 28mm grip and a 50mm diameter sleeve. They also feature needle bearings to provide a smooth rotation and reduced friction for heavy lifts. In the Olympic range is the Athena, Spartan and Zeus. Barbells FAQ
Barbells refer specifically to straight long bars used for barbell exercises. Gym bars refer the whole category of bars that include curl bars, tricep bars, dumbbell handles and all the rest.
No, not all weight plates will fit all bars. Standard bars will only fit standard weight plates with a 25mm diameter, while Olympic bars will only fit Olympic plates with a 50mm diameter.
Standard barbells weight about 7kg, while Olympic bars weight about 15kg. Many users will take this into account when loading up weight plates, as it adds to the overall weight of the lift.
In our range you'll plenty of option for bar storage as well as different types of lock collars to secure your weight plates to the bar.
