Medicine Balls FAQ
Single Leg Squat (Glutes, quads, abdominals)
Hold the ball in your hands, stretch your arms out in front of you, then lift one leg up off the ground. Straightening your raised leg, bend the standing leg down into a squat.
Russian Twists (Abdominals, obliques)
Sit on the floor, holding a medicine ball with both hands up close to your chest. Raise your feet up off the ground, keeping yourself upright by bracing your core. Then, begin rotating the medicine ball from side to side, rotating the torso with the medicine ball.
Single arm push-ups (Pecs, shoulders, triceps)
Move into push-up position, but holding a medicine ball underneath one hand. Perform push ups as normal, trying to keep your torso steady and parallel with the floor.
CORTEX medicine balls come in a range of sizes and weights, from 2kg up to 10kg in weight. Lighter medicine balls are better for incorporated cardio training, adding intensity into your aerobic workout. The heavier weights, however, will be better suited to more focused strength training, and abdominal workouts. For exercises with medicine balls, you can either focus on a particular weight that works well with you, or have a selection of weights you can rotate through to provide a wholistic routine.
