Skipping Ropes FAQ
There are many reasons to incorporate skipping rope exercises into your regular fitness routine. It’s a great aerobic exercise that improves your cardiovascular health and endurance. You can also use your skipping rope for weight loss, as it makes for an accessible, high-intensity workout that will maximise your calorie burn. Lastly, skipping rope exercises deliver great results for your coordination, requiring precision and timing to improve your balance, agility and overall coordination.
A skipping rope is an efficient tool for developing high-intensity aerobic workouts, which are a key component of maximising weight loss. Burning fat is all about increasing your energy output, which is most efficiently done through intense cardio training. What makes skipping rope exercises especially useful for weight loss is the combination they provide of cardio training and working the abdominal muscles, leading to reduced belly fat and a stronger core.
• Help users understand the key exercises they can do with a skipping rope
Here is a sample of exercises that will work your agility, coordination and leg muscles.
High Knees
With each jump bring your knees up to waist height, alternating legs with each jump.
Criss-Cross
Cross your hands over each other at about middle of your torso and jump through the rope as normal. Alternate between this and your arms being on the outside of your body.
Side to Side
Keeping your feet together, jump from side to side over an imaginary line on the floor.
• The general length of skipping ropes and how long the Lifespan Fitness ones are
All our skipping ropes have adjustable lengths, with a maximum of around 300cm, on top of a handle that is usually around 18cm long. Choosing between a long skipping rope and a shorter one is an important first step in your workout, as it will need to be compatible with your height and size. A good rule of thumb is to take your height and add about 90-100cm. So, something who is 170cm tall will want a skipping rope length of around 260cm or more. Ultimately, it’s important to choose a length that’s comfortable for you and your needs.
Lifespan Fitness offers convenient access to ‘buy now pay later’ programs such as Zip Pay. This allows you to spread out payments over the course of between 3 months, all the way up to 60 months.
